Vytis Club President Alex Wiasak - Announcement of Resignation.

On Friday 15th January 2020 the AGM was held for the GLSK VYTIS. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, only the VYTIS committee members and Lithuanian community committee members were in attendance.

One of the main points of general business we would like to communicate was the announcement of resignation by club president Alex Wiasak. Alex has been president of the VYTIS sports club for 28 years and a member (initially as a player) of the club for 48 years.

In Alex's letter of resignation he mentioned his highlights being coaching juniors and seeing them and other club juniors develop into excellent sports people and community members, with some becoming talented leaders. And taking our club members to participate in the 2013 World Lithuanian Games in Klaipeda and the 2017 World Lithuanian Games in Kaunas where they were able to experience true Lithuanian culture. Winning the Lithuanian World U16 Boys gold medal in Kaunas is an everlasting memory, as is our men defeating Chicago in Kaunas to make the quarter finals.

Alex has been a pivotal part of making the club what it is today and his involvement and leadership will leave some very large shoes to fill. The committee will meet to decide upon a successor in the not too distant future and will communicate the announcement accordingly.

We thank Alex for his many years of service in this position with the club and look forward to have him continue as a member of the VYTIS community.
